Five hours after the Hideki Matsui-led Yankees beat the Phillies to capture their 27th World Series title, the first pitch was thrown in Game 5 of the Japan Series. Matsui's former team, the Yomiuri Giants defeated the Nippon Ham Fighters 3-2 on a dramatic walkoff HR to take a 3-2 Series lead.
